The Woolpack  Sundays won't be the same again for some time for parshioners of St Michaels and All Angels Church, Sopley.  Communion will be held in the historic Woolpack Inn while extensive restoration of the Church is carried out.  Sunday services in the lounge bar?

The church in Sopley will be unusable during renovations until the end of October.  The Rev. Malcolm Sturman said that the owner of the Woolpack offered the parishioners the use of the pub on Sundays after hearing that the regulars to the church would be homeless for a few weeks.

The Reverend said that he had earlier blessed the new thatch roof of the pub run by Chris Hankins after it was severely damaged by fire a few months ago.

Mr Sturman said that this shows true community spirit and the pub and the church do have things in common - we are both open th everyone.

Sunday services are held at 11am in the pub.  Therefore the first pub dinner reservations have been put back by half an hour to allow the service to continue.
