Good Riddance

Gary Newlove
Victim - Gary Newlove
Earlier this week we had the good news that three yobbos were sent down for life for killing Gary Newlove.  Personally I would have lined them up against a wall and shot 'em.  Mr Newlove was kicked to death by the youths after he confronted them about vandalism outside his Cheshire home in August 2007.

Adam Swellings, 19, of Meredith Street, Crewe received a minimum 17-year term; Stephen Sorton, 17, of Honister Street, Warrington, received a minimum 15 years; and Jordan Cunliffe, 16, formerly of Rowland Close, Warrington, was locked up for a minimum of 12 years. They were originally convicted of murder at Chester Crown Court in January.

Judge Andrew Smith said: “You were three of a gang who attacked Garry Newlove only because he had the courage to remonstrate with you.  For you all drunken aggression was part of the night’s entertainment."

Now assuming teenagers can read and watch television at news time, you would think that with all the TV and press coverage all over Britain that attacking innocent people who have had a few words to say about their behaviour results in kicking or stabbing them and possibly maiming or killing, they will be caught and they will lose their freedom for a long long time.  But still the violence goes on.

What can we do to reduce or stop this mindless violence?  Their are a few options I can think of but may make me a target for the liberterians and sandal wearers.  Shame we don't have a small island within the "empire" we could send them to, then they could kill each other and It wouldn't cost a dime except the transport.

If the government and police cannot get a grip on this soon I can forsee vigilante groups forming to protect their community.  Maybe call in the "A Team" or resurrect Charles Bronson (Death Wish Movie Series) or a group of top level judges exacting justice for those who repeatedly slip through the net (Movie - The Star Chamber).

So what's the government come up with so far?  More tax on booze, restrictions on discount beer from supermarkets so as to make it expensive for youths to purchase!  I don't think so.  In fact we, the law abiding drinkers will pay for this flimsy plan.  The same government that gave us the 24 hour licensing, that's who.  It may work on the continent but not here - different culture.  The debate goes on and on.

Those three boys hopefully will find out the useful properties of vaseline jelly and if they don't well hard cheese.

Can I Be Executioner
The only thing thugs fear is public humiliation so I suggest the Stocks for minor anti-social behaviour. In the case of murder - life for a life. No years on death row like in the States. Allow appeals but if they fail they die. I know it sounds harsh but these little sods will manipulate the system, "hard done by", lack of parental control and all the other excuses. They know where the line stops but they still cross it.

Let them all rot
Week after week stories come in of teens usually in gangs or groups - because they haven't got the guts to do anything bad on their own - and the do-gooders repeat or invent a new syndrome to categorise their behaviour.
