Clean uncluttered pages, easy to read (especially for vision impaired users) minimal adverts, easy on the eye, specific information relating to Christchurch and the Community.

About the Site

This is an independent website and has no commercial connections to Christchurch Borough Council, Dorset County Council, Tourist Board or any other tourism-related organisation. It does however have links to the above named sites and also similar non commercial websites whose subject matter is of interest to visitors seeking information on Christchurch Dorset. 
The website was created back in 1998with the idea of a virtual tour of my home town being possible with many people having access to the internet worldwide and therefore promoting the towns' existence as a pleasurable place to live and visit.

It is an alternative to the official tourism site with more interactivity. The site is an unsupported, non commercial site and maintained at my cost.

Most of the photos were taken using a Fujifilm Finepix S5000.Zoom Digital camera and the video's used were originally recorded on a Sony semi-pro Hi 8 camcorder and later the subjects were re-covered using a Sony Digital Camcorder in widescreen mode. The movies are in Windows Video format because majority of computers worldwide use Microsoft operating systems and therefore use Win Media. Real video is good too but in the last few years although the excellent basic player has been free it is plagued with big adverts to subscribe to prime services.

At this moment in time I am following up contacts to get more sponsorship from local businesses to help with the cost of maintaining the site on it's present Apache-RedHat server running on Linux software.
