Release date 26th September 2008. - Supposedly set in the year 2015 which is not that far off, where big companies contracted to run prisons privately, sounds familiar, are seeing a downturn in fat profits although they are securely detaining millions of criminals and ever more numbers rising weekly. Warden Hennessey, a deceptive bitch played by Joan Allen has created a high death count, big money series of gladiator style car races to the imminent death, with the last inmate becoming the winner and to be rewarded with an early prison release but unbeknown to them very unlikely. But the prison system is running out of good drivers/cons to entertainment the bloodthirsty public so the prison staff kidnap former professional car racer Jensen played by Jason Statham in a clever scam, which sees him framed for a murder he didn't commit so that he becomes a convict at the prison. With the use of a prison based high tech crew presided over by Coach played by Ian Mcshane (Deadwood) who acts as fairy godmother over Jensen who is being groomed for ultimate race - destruction and mayhem will ensue, no holds barred. This is big boys movie that will undoubtly become game console stuff very soon. With brutality, death, destruction this isn't to be a movie to take the family to watch. Includes strong language and violence. Storyline is next to zero but if you just want to watch destruction and twisted metal this may be for you. Video Clips
