The 32 million expansion of Bournemouth airport has restarted after many months of delaying tactics and objections by external organisations. Next month sees more improvements going ahead after more cash injected to the scheme by owners Manchester Airport Group. This now brings the scheme's budget to 45 million.
The expansion work had been delayed again by a High Court judical review instigated by New Forest National Park after Christchurch Borough council gave the go-ahead for the development. A High Court judge's decision in April rejecting the NFNP objections meant that work could be restarted on construction of a new terminal, more car-parks and improvements to access roads.

"We had to satisfy various requirements from statutory consultees and the judical review for New Forest National Park. Now with addtional funding the scope of improvements has been increased" he added.

Already Ryan Air, a recent newcomer have based more aircraft to many more destinations realising the potential of a south coast modern regional airport.
Upgrading the runway lighting and apron will begin in August 2008 folowed by an interim departure lounge, security facilities, check-in and additional parking.
The whole project is aimed to be finished by Spring 2010
