JavaScript is a type of coding used in mainly internet pages to carry out a function or execute a program and display images, transitions, special effects and more..

Programmers and hackers can use JavaScript for malicious uses, changing your computer settings or even stopping it from shutting down/booting -up. Sending details of your computer and probably anything else that comes to mind. Ensure you have installed an anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall programs and they are updated. Don't panic! With these programs installed they will detect malicious scripts and either warn you or quarantine them.

No. But WebPages would be very dull without it! Try shopping online, accessing your bank account, view interactive pictures or even clicking a button without it. Nothing would work without it.

This is a feature of IE6 for your security. If you consider the site you are viewing is genuine and fairly safe you click "for options / click here". Another pop-up window will appear asking if you wish to run Active X and scripts. Choose Yes or No! Normally you would allow the page to display and run. NB: The only sites you must take care with are porn sites and sites accessed from spam mail selling drugs and OEM software which seem to have produce numerous pop-up windows and are infected with viruses, spyware whether intentionally or accidently.

This is giving you another chance to review whether you wish to proceed with running Active X or Scripts. If you consider the page or website safe click Yes. Otherwise No.

Yes. Button effects and Interactive pictures will not work without it. Flash movies too will be affected.

Go to the top toolbar of IE.5 and IE.6 and select Tools/Internet Options/Security.  Click Trusted sites and then add the address of the site you wish to trust always. Do not select the button "Secure connection required. (https).

This is the default of the browser when it comes across a link to an image.  On this site the picture should open in a small window on it's own. To rectify, allow JavaScript.
Internet Tools/Security/Custom Level.  Enable or Prompt, Active X and allow scripts to run.

No. The webmaster ensures that page content is suitable for all and that includes NewFeed. A reference point would be that you will find no textual or image data that you would not find in a broadshhet newspaper. With regards to NewsFeed, submissions are moderated but some stories may need parental guidance with regards to medical and scientific material but no more than UK schools would cover in their curriculum.

Java is a self running mini program known as an Applet.  Java was developed by Sun Micro Systems.  Can be used to do virtually anything and is popularity is even greater now due to the fact that mobile phones use it to play games.

To enable Java applets.  Go to IE Tools/internet/security/custom/  Scroll down to Java VM and click a suitable level, i.e.; medium. Adjust this setting till the applet runs.   Also scroll down further to java applet scripting and click enable.

You may not have Java runtime plug-in installed.  2. Your operating system is not Windows XP. .  3. Java Applets have been disabled. Internet Tools/Security/Custom  Level/  enable java applets!

To download the latest version or new install of Java Runtime go to JavaSun.com

Yes. Right click mouse on image and save target as!  Only for non commercial uses or to view later. If you wish to use a number of pictures for whatever reason please contact the webmaster, he may have quality original uncompressed pictures.

Media Player can be downloaded from Microsoft. It is in my opinion more flexible and is also integrated into Windows XP operating systems and therefore most widely available globally.

Stopping or momentarily pausing (freezing) while viewing WinMedia Video online via the internet is subject to quality of your ISP connection, how busy the servers in the chain are and your geographical position.  Other factors to consider are; Is your connection speed fast enough?  These movies are compressed to play at  340Kb/sec (Low) and  512 Kb/sec (High).   So for example you have 512kb connection, then you would chose Low Quality (512Kb), therefore once the movie has buffered and started playing, media player will continue to load the movie data in the background approx 1.3 times as fast as the player requires, therefore ensuring a smooth movie.
